The Comeback l Week 2: Comeback From SIN l Jacob Dickerson

Mar 15, 2026

Everyone loves a good comeback story.

The underdog wins. The team down big in the fourth quarter rallies back. The athlete written off proves everyone wrong.

Why do we love those stories so much?

Because deep down… we’re looking for one in our own lives.

But sometimes the greatest comeback we need isn’t from failure… it’s from sin.

A lot of people carry the weight of guilt and regret.

Sin we wish we could erase.

Decisions we wish we could take back.

Moments we wish we could undo.

And eventually we start asking the question:

“Did I go too far?”

“Did I mess things up too badly for God to still use me?”

In Week 2 of our series “The Comeback,” Pastor Jacob Dickerson looks at the story of King David in Psalm 51 after one of the darkest seasons of his life.

David committed adultery.

He tried to cover it up.

And when that didn’t work… he arranged for a man to be killed.

But when David finally confronted his sin, he didn’t hide it — he confessed it.

And in Psalm 51 we see what real repentance looks like.

The message of the Gospel is clear:

Your sin may have consequences, but it doesn’t have to define your future.

When we come back to God in repentance, God offers forgiveness, restoration, and a new beginning.

If you’ve ever wondered whether God could forgive what you’ve done…

this message is for you.
